Crackdown on boy racers in Cirencester

A POLICE dispersal order was put in place in Cirencester to tackle anti-social behaviour.

The order – which covers the Love Lane and Industrial Estate area – begins at midnight tonight, Friday, May 27.

It will last until midnight, Sunday, May 29.

The order is to prevent further anti-social behaviour from people and vehicles gathering in the Love Lane and industrial estate area.

Officers can direct any groups of two or more to leave the area for 24 hours when they believe the behaviour of the group is likely to result in members of the public being harassed, alarmed or distressed.

Cotswolds Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Simon Ellson said: “We have been experiencing problems of anti-social behaviour in the Love Lane area from car meet ups and large gatherings congregating, often at weekends.

“These gatherings and the anti-social behaviour they bring drain a lot of police resources, and intimidate and harass both businesses and members of the public .

“This type of behaviour will not be tolerated and those identified will be dispersed and any offences will be dealt with robustly.”
