A CRASH has blocked part of the A419 in Swindon.
The accident happened near the Blunsdon Bypass at around 8.30am today.
Traffic has slowed to a crawl and large queues are forming in the area.
One lane is closed on the northbound carriageway from A4311 Cricklade Road (Swindon) to A417 (South Cerney).
One passing motorist told the Swindon Advertiser: “I was driving the other way at about 9.40am.
“The road had been blocked off by the police, there was a blue car in the carriageway with damage to its front on the right-hand side, and a lorry was pulled into the side.
“It didn’t look like there was much more involved, although it was hard to see and there was no indication of injuries.
“Traffic was backed up because the recovery of the car in the carriageway hadn’t started, and there were still police cars heading to the scene.”
A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “We were called to a collision involving four vehicles including a HGV, shortly after 8.30am this morning on the A419 northbound, at the bottom of Blunsdon Hill.
“A closure has been put in place while recovery is arranged for the vehicles. Fortunately, nobody has been injured.”
