Critical incident declared at Phoenix Health Group surgery

A CRITICAL incident has been declared at a surgery in the area amid nursing strikes.

Phoenix Health Group which runs surgeries in Cirencester, Tetbury and South Cerney said in a Facebook post that their services are under ‘extreme pressure’.

The surgery hasn’t explained why a critical incident has been declared but it comes as thousands of nurses in England have walked out today in the biggest strike in nursing history.

A statement from the surgery group reads: “Due to unforeseen circumstances the practice is under extreme pressure today and we are declaring a critical incident.

“This means there may be a delay dealing with your inquiry or to speak to a healthcare professional.

“We ask you only call or visit the practice if you feel your inquiry is urgent and must be dealt with today.

“We are expecting services to return to normal after 24 hours.

“Thank you for your understanding and patience.”

It is currently unknown which surgery has been affected by the critical incident.

Two minor injury and illness units have been closed in Gloucestershire in Tewkesbury and Stroud amid the nursing strikes while another in Lydney is operating with reduced service.
