“I’m standing for selection to be Labour’s Parliamentary candidate for Stroud constituency because I have the experience, resilience, and values to fight and win a positive campaign,” said Ms Cornell.
“I’ve lived here for 22 years, raising my family and serving my community.
“I’ve served as a district councillor for ten years, four as council leader, leading the district through the pandemic, and fighting against the cuts and the barriers to opportunity the Conservative government has forced on our community.
It would be a great honour
“It would be a great honour to be selected as Labour’s Parliamentary candidate, taking the fight to the Tories, but also, continuing to campaign to put care for people and planet, wellbeing, trust and common decency back at the heart of Stroud politics.
“Voters at the next general election will look for hope, a new type of politics, and a Labour candidate they know and trust. This is the message I am hearing on the doorstep.
“I believe that if selected, my track record, my values, and my achievements for this constituency will help Labour keep this trust, and win us votes.”
