A man has been charged following an accident in which a Mini Cooper left the road and plunged off a bridge over the River Avon.

Police were called shortly after 7.30pm on Saturday after reports that a Mini Cooper had left the road at the site of a bridge over the River Avon between Sutton Benger and Christian Malford.

The driver, Mark James Davies, 41, from Swansea, has been charged with failing to provide a specimen of breath.

He has been bailed to appear before magistrates on November 11.
