Hewitts Sweet Shop – which is believed to have been around for 100 years – shut temporarily on Friday, April 28.
Former owners Janet and Lee Buffrey are retiring to the Forest of Dean.
New owners Claire and Jim Parry are planning to resume trading next week on Tuesday, May 9.
Claire said: “Myself and my husband are very excited about taking over the shop.
“We wish Janet and Lee all the very best in their retirement, they have been very kind.
“We hope that we can continue with the shop with the support of the Dursley community.
“It has been a long standing dream to own our own shop in a friendly community.
“Since finding the 100 year old shop in Dursley, I recently have found out that my great grandmother owned a sweetshop in Kingswood near to where I grew up!
“There will be very little change to start and we hope to develop social media initially.
“The shop will still offer the same friendly service, your favourite sweets, regular newspapers and much more. Please pop in and say hello.”
To allow the couple to get to know the community, the couple will be offering a free raffle ticket with every purchase to win a sweet prize.
