12-YEAR-OLD eco-warrior, Heather Kent was a shortlisted finalist for the Young Litter Hero Award 2021 run by the UK’s Keep Britain Tidy Network, writes Chris Roberts.
The award celebrates an outstanding contribution by an individual or group of young people that have demonstrated commitment to the local environment and to reducing litter.
Nominations had to be submitted by a local authority and Fairford Town Council put Heather’s name forward as she had previously done so much to improve the environment in and around Fairford.
At the awards ceremony on Wednesday, February 3, Heather was up against two other contestants – one from Hull and the other from Cheshire.
The winner was Freyah and the Litter Squad from Hull as part of their Love Hull Hate Litter campaign.
Heather said: “I was pleased to be in the top three in Britain and I am so happy that there are other people around the UK who are looking after our environment.
“Together we can make a difference! A bag a day keeps the litter away.”
