FATHER’S DAY: Readers explain what makes their dad so special

Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful dads out there, including those who are sadly no longer with us.

A few days ago we asked to readers to send in pictures of their dad and explain why they were so special.

Aimee Hefferman sent in this photo of her husband Jeremy, their sons Herbie (8) and Reginald (5) and Jeremy’s father Anthony.

Stroud News and Journal:

Aimee said: “They both work together for themselves and work so hard but any spare time they have is always based around the family.

“Walking is one thing that they love to do, especially Anthony as he has taken both grandchildren out walking once a week since Herbie was seven months old.

“They are the rocks of our family and both are the most fantastic fathers and our family would not be what it is today without the two of them which is why I class them as the best dads and grandfather around!”

Trudie Ellis sent in this photo of her dad.

Stroud News and Journal:

She said: My Dad was a great, he always made sure that when we were growing up we had the things we wanted.

“He was also a very well known man in the community as he ran on many committees within Tetbury.

“Many called him Mr Tetbury. Miss you Dad.”

Kirsty Jones Collison sent in this photo of her dad, Mike.

Stroud News and Journal:

She said: “My Daddy bear is in heaven and this is the 1st Father’s Day without him.

“He was an avid reader of the Stroud News and Journal, and this for me would be a great first memory. Mike Jones my Dad my only one. X”

Sharon O’Grady sent in this photo.

Stroud News and Journal:

She said: “Dad is missed by all who knew him.

“Never a day passes when we don’t miss him.

“He taught us to be strong just like he was.”
