Fondue on menu at Cotswolds pub’s cosy ‘ski lodge’

A LARGE makeshift ski lodge has turned up at the Bathurst Arms in North Cerney, near Cirencester.

Bathurst Arms landlord Jordan Lee Pelly has converted the 24ft tipi into the ski lodge themed dining and drinking space.

It had previously been dressed as a circus with several model zebras, a toy panther and various items adorning it, inspired by Giffords Circus, but Jordan wanted change and something a little bit different for Christmas parties.

“We are constantly trying to come up with new ideas and a ski lodge seemed like a good one,” he said.

“The stereotypical lodge is warm, full of furs and rugs and we have tried to recreate that. We have also added heaters to keep our guests warm.

“Our chef has created a fun fondue menu as well that we think suits the setting.

“And I have put a record played in there, which has proved a hit. It is surprising how many of our younger guests have never seen one or know how it works.”

“The tepee can hold up to 40 covers so is a great feature for a party. Why not get dressed up in goggles and Campri jackets for an old fashioned apres ski party,” Jordan said.

The Cotswold pub was awarded five prestigious stars for a 95% organic menu by the Soil Association Certification and has picked up two AA Rosettes in 2021.
