Future of Shaws uncertain as Stroud store closes for second day

THE FUTURE of Shaws is uncertain as the Stroud store is closed for the second day.

Bothb yesterday (Tuesday) and today (Wednesday) the store in the High Street has been closed.

This comes as the managers of the Welsh business admitted to the BBC ‘that the company must change to survive.’

In the article, the BBC also claimed that ‘staff have been told that no new stock will be ordered before any reorganisation of the company.’

Stroud News and Journal:

It was also claimed that ‘a letter has been sent to all members of staff saying that current trading conditions are “very challenging” and that “Shaws are likely to need to make some changes to the business in the new year”.

The South Wales Argus also reported that ‘workers were given a letter saying that the company was ‘restructuring.’

One worker at their Newport store said: “The staff haven’t been told anything, but it is a very worrying time for us especially just before Christmas.”
