The internet is amazing for many things.
It has given us instant access to great works of literature, iconic films and epoch-defining TV shows.
Not to mention the ability to contact just about everyone we know whenever we want (even if they don’t want us to).
But sometimes, when you really, really need it at your time of need, it just doesn’t deliver.
Because one Gloucester man said he found himself in a bit of a spot of bother at 7.32pm on Monday.
He was at home and put an urgent call out on Facebook community page Spotted: Spotted: Quedgeley, Kingsway, Hardwicke – one of the best and most helpful pages around
His message was simple: “Anyone got any vinegar they could pop round?
“Gotta be quick thou, want my dinner by 8 thanks.”
The post reached more than 2,000 people, but only two replies – neither of which were hugely helpful to him.
One said Tesco was open until 11pm, another suggested a chippy in Cirencester.
Two hours later, he returned to the page to blast the lack of community spirit.
He said: “Not only did I not get anyone to get off their bone idle a***s to deliver me some vinegar I had to have cold chips I waited that long. I hate Kingsway.”
When asked by Gloucestershire Live if his predicament and post was genuine, he replied: “Yes it is, and I’m fuming.”
However, most people seemed to take his plight with a pinch of salt, and swiftly offered him their condiments on his post.
