KINGSHILL School in Cirencester has issued a letter to parents after children returned from a ski trip to Italy.

Italy is currently Europe’s worst-affected country for the coronavirus with more than 300 cases and 11 deaths confirmed so far.

The trip was to Piancavallo in the Pordenone region, which is not currently affected.

A letter posted on the school website dated Tuesday says: “The government has today updated their advice on COVID -19 and specified countries and areas with implications for returning travellers or visitors arriving in the UK.

“As your child has recently returned from the ski trip in northern Italy, which appears in the category two list, we are notifying you of this latest advice.

“The region of Pordenone, in which Piancavallo sits, is not currently under containment.”

The letter continues that as the area visited was a category two area, the advice is that travellers do not need to undertake any special measures but if they develop symptoms they should self-isolate and call NHS 111.
