A LAW firm with its roots in Herefordshire and Worcestershire says it is proud to be involved in the very first Three Counties Farming Awards.
mfg Solicitors LLP is one of the sponsors of the new awards, which celebrate farmers in Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire.
It has been helping farmers for more than 450 years, and has an award-winning agricultural and rural affairs division that is nationally recognised.
The division is led by experienced partner Iain Morrison, who said the awards will shine an important light on the region’s agricultural industry.
“Awards always provide a platform to showcase all that is good about an industry, and these awards will shine a light on the success, effort and innovation which is spread across the region’s farming and rural sector,” said Iain.
mfg Solicitors has offices in Worcester, Kidderminster, Bromsgrove, Telford, Ludlow and Birmingham, and provides strategic legal advice on all aspects of rural life, including agricultural tenancies, buying and selling agricultural property, development schemes and business diversification, renewable energy, boundary disputes, succession, inheritance and tax planning.
Members of its rural team regularly speak about farming-related issues and it hosts a series of popular annual seminars in partnership with the CLA, the membership body in England and Wales for landowners and rural business owners.
Its advice to the rural community extends to the media, including Three Counties Farmer, where mfg Solicitors’ agricultural commentaries and thought leadership articles are regularly published.
Its experts also offer a specialist service for the food and drink industry, helping to tackle regulations, health and safety approaches, complex supply and distribution agreements, sales and acquisitions, exporting, employment legislation and tax considerations.
Food and drink clients range from growers and food packaging firms, to Michelin-star restaurants and family-owned hotels.
Iain added: “As a law firm with its roots steeped in Herefordshire and Worcestershire, we are proud to be involved in the first ever Three Counties Farmer Farming Awards.”
The awards are open for entries until Wednesday, April 10, in 12 categories; sheep, cattle, pig, poultry, fruit/hop and arable farmer of the year, as well as young farmer, farming contractor and farming hero.
Awards will also be presented for the best family-run farm and best farm exhibiting sustainability and diversification.
The awards are being organised by Newsquest Media Group, publisher of the Three Counties Farmer, and its sister newspapers and websites the Stroud News and Journal, Gloucestershire Gazette, Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard, Worcester News, Hereford Times, Malvern Gazette, Ledbury Reporter, Evesham and Cotswold Journal, Tenbury Wells Advertiser, Kidderminster Shuttle, Bromsgrove Messenger, Redditch Advertiser and Droitwich Advertiser.
The headline sponsor is Harper Adams University.
Winners will be announced at a gala dinner at the Three Counties Showground on Thursday, June 13.
