
The last time the council had an all out election was four years ago in 2019.
Many commentators are saying the results will give an indication of where the nation’s loyalty lies when it comes to national issues.
So far, there are still six wards to declare in South Gloucestershire, the Conservatives have 18 seats and the Lib Dems and Labour each have 16.
LDR reporter Adam Postans believes Conservatives have lost control of South Gloucestershire Council.
The Tories previously controlled the council with 33 seats – 31 seats is needed for an overall majority.
Former South Glos Council leader Toby Savage, who didn’t stand for reelection, says it’s a disappointing night but that the local Tories are “outperforming” the national party.
