Frustrated drivers are reporting huge queues on the A46 near Dunkirk which are believed to have been caused by a lorry crashing off the road.
The accident which is believed to have happened at around 10am this morning near the Lasborough turning on the busy main road brought traffic to a standstill while emergency teams dealt with the accident.
One of our reporters who was stuck in the traffic said that the lorry could be clearly seen deep in the trees by the roadside.
“It looks like the lorry has gone off the road and crashed quiet a way through the trees,” said Ross Arnott.
“I’ve been sat in traffic for the last 30 minutes and we’re not moving – but some vehicles seem to be coming through from the opposite direction.
“They’ve pulled the lorry out now – but Highways England teams are clearing the branches and mud off the road.”
The accident is the second crash on the road today – earlier this morning a crash between a car and a bus partially blocked the A46 near Dyrham Park, causing significant delays.
Additionally an abnormal load travelling through the county this morning has been caught in, and is contributing to, traffic on the A46.
The wide load heading from Tormarton was stuck in the queues.
Drivers are advised to check their route and allow extra time to travel.
