A MALMESBURY puzzle company has launched its Christmas collection projected to be worth £5.2 million over the next five years.
Wiltshire-based Wentworth Wooden Puzzles has recently launched its vibrant festive-themed jigsaw puzzle collection, which will be available to buy in the United States thanks to a recent ecommerce expansion.
The business has been producing unique and intricately crafted wooden jigsaw puzzles from its factory in the heart of the Wiltshire countryside since 1991.
The company’s team uses state-of-the-art, computer-controlled lasers to produce over 200,000 puzzles every year.
The Department for International Trade supported the company in growing its sales in the US and, with DIT’s help, it invested in a new US website and marketing, growing its annual turnover from £1.8 million in 2012 to £3.8 million in 2018.
Wentworth Wooden Puzzles Managing Director Sarah Watson said: “To see the growth in the US market over the last few years has been really exciting and as we use an ecommerce website to sell to consumers the exporting process has been fairly straightforward.
“As part of our growth plan over the next five years, we will be focussing on direct to consumer growth through country specific websites, brand awareness and digitally focussed advertising campaigns.
“The support and advice we have received from DIT has been invaluable in helping a business of our size grow.
“I would definitely urge companies that are starting out with their export plans to get in touch with the department and see how they can help.”
Wentworth Wooden Puzzles annual turnover for 2019 is projected to be £4.3 million.
Exporting accounts for 55 percent of this, and that is expected to increase to 70 percent over the next three years.
The company also employs 45 people at its site in Malmesbury.
