Man charged after suspected drugs found following A419 crash near Cricklade

A MAN has been charged after packets of suspected drugs were found in a car following a crash on the A419.

Police were called to a crash involving two cars on the A419 close to the Castle Eaton turn-off, at around 9.40am yesterday morning.

A silver Ford Fiesta and a silver Kia Cee’d, which were both travelling on the southbound carriageway were involved.

Nobody was injured, but when officers searched the Ford Fiesta they discovered packets of what is believed to be amphetamines.

Tinashe Ndongwe, aged 26, of no fixed address, has been charged with dangerous driving and possession with intent to supply Class B drugs.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Salisbury Magistrates Court this morning.

PC Craig Beales, from Swindon Community Policing Team, said: “Thankfully this didn’t turn out to be a serious collision and nobody was hurt.

“But it was a great find by the attending officers, who quickly picked up on the driver’s demeanour and carried out a thorough search of the vehicle, locating these drugs.

“Obviously, our enquiries are at an early stage, but this case appears to highlight the ongoing issue of illegal drugs being brought into our county from elsewhere and we will continue to take action to tackle the problem.”
