A man who was chased by police after reports that he was driving the wrong way along a notorious accident black spot is set to appear in court this morning.

Joseph Gordon, aged 35, of Foxtail Close, Gloucester was arrested by officers from the Roads Policing Unit after Gloucestershire Constabulary received a number of calls about a vehicle being driven on the wrong side of the carriageway.

Members of the public reported seeing a white van being driven fast on the wrong side of the A417 towards Birdlip.

The van failed to stop for police and continued past the Air Balloon roundabout.

Police brought van to a halt at Zoons Court.

Gordon will appear before magistrates in Cheltenham today, Wednesday, March 6, facing charges in connection with an incident on the A417 on Monday.

He was subsequently charged with dangerous driving and failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

Luckily no other vehicles were involved nor was anyone injured.
