A new pizza place has opened its doors in Stroud.
Queues of people stood on Nelson Street yesterday to take advantage of Caprinos’ offer of free pizza to celebrate its grand opening.
The takeaway has opened on the site of The Diner, which closed in 2019.
The Stroud store is the 54th Caprinos in the UK. The chain has rapidly spread across the country since Gul Mawaz and Khalil Rehman opened their first takeaway in Didcot in 2014.
Speaking to the Oxford Mail in 2018 Mr Rehman said: “Our mission for what we wanted was to build a British pizza brand, as many of the others are often American or from elsewhere.
“We didn’t plan to expand so fast when we started in Didcot and it was so small. But we did much better than forecast.”
The Stroud store is currently offering takeaway and delivery only, but there are plans to put in tables and chairs in the near future.
