New PureGym opens at Cirencester Retail Park Poundland site

A 10,000 square-foot gym is opening on a former Poundland site in Cirencester.

PureGym confirmed on Thursday that they will open a 24/7 facility in Cirencester retail Park on September 14 at 12pm.

It will create around nine full and part-time jobs in the area.

A PureGym spokesperson said: “The gym will be spread across 10,000 sq. ft. and will cater for everyone’s exercise needs with a functional zone, free weights, fixed resistance, high-quality cardio equipment and a range of fitness classes.

“Our certified PTs will also be available to help their clients achieve their health and fitness goals.”

The news comes after PureGym bosses said the company was “well-positioned to take advantage of this post-pandemic recovery” and opportunities presented by a weakening of competition over the past 18 months.

The group said they believe there will be significant opportunities to invest to “accelerate growth through opening many more new sites” as well as pumping funds into existing gyms.

PureGym said it is particularly keen to expand its gym estates in the UK and Switzerland.

As of June 30, the company had 506 gyms across its global business, with 502 of these open and the remaining sites closed due to non-Covid reasons, such as refurbishment.

Cirencester Retail Park can be accessed via Bridge Road, close to Lidl, minutes from Tesco Extra and near to Peacocks, Sports Direct, Pets at Home and KFC.
