Many people will remember the days when beauty shows and parades of women in swimming costume were common place, writes Robert Heaven.
These took place in Cirencester mainly at the swimming pool, but there were also other competitions for women including Ideal Barmaid (1974) Miss South Pacific (1966) and Miss Personality Girl which was won by local girl Margaret Alexander (1970)
