NOSTALGIA: The smaller shops that were once popular in Cirencester

Like many towns, shops are constantly changing in Cirencester.

Large ones such as Boultons that became House of Fraser via Rackhams are remembered, but there are also smaller shops that were once busy and popular with locals and tourists.

The pictures show the first actual Delicatessen in Cirencester in the mid 1960s which was at 36 Market Place where Thirty Six now sells clothing.

Also shown are MacFisheries in Cricklade Street which closed suddenly in 1979.

Ann’s Pantry, which has for a long while been a multi-vendor antique shop, was once entirely a bakers and teashop.
