Nurses in Gloucestershire will NOT be joining RCN strikes

NURSES in Gloucestershire who are members of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) will not be taking part in this week’s industrial strike action.

For the first time in their 106 year history, tens of thousands of nurses belonging to the RCN took part in strikes in December 2022 to demand fair pay and improved patient safety.

And, after failing to strike a new deal, nurses and other workers in the RCN union will strike again on Wednesday, January 18 and Thursday, January 19.

However, the NHS in Gloucestershire has confirmed that none of its nurses will be taking part in industrial action this week alongside RCN members from other parts of the country.

In a statement published on its website today (Monday), it said: “The NHS in Gloucestershire has today provided an update regarding RCN Industrial Action which is taking place in some areas of the country on the above dates.

“Gloucestershire’s NHS Trusts are not amongst those listed by the RCN as sites for Industrial Action this week and therefore services will be running as normal in the county.

“Further Ambulance Service Worker Industrial Action is currently planned for Monday 23 January and the NHS will again share public service advice ahead of this.”
