Police checking speed limits on A38 this month

Each month Gloucestershire’s Camera Enforcement Team visits five different speeding hotspots across the county for one day a week.

Among the locations this month is the A38 at Gossington which is 50mph.

The other locations are:

• Bristol Road, Quedgeley – 30mph

• Leckhampton Road, Cheltenham at the junction with Old Bath Road – 30mph

• Gloucester Road, Tewkesbury at Mowbray Avenue – 40mph

• Coleford Road, Bream – 30mph

Last month saw hundreds of motorists caught across the county.

More than 360 were caught at Nettleton Bottom along the A417 near Cirencester breaking the 40mph limit when a team was located at the site.

A spokesperson for Gloucestershire police said: “We are committed to keeping people safe on the roads.

“We are taking appropriate action against those who put others at risk by driving at excessive speeds or in an otherwise dangerous manner.

“Speeding is one of the causes of road deaths and injury in the county, along with using a mobile phone while driving, not wearing a seatbelt and drink or drug driving.

“The constabulary’s mobile Camera Enforcement Team regularly conducts speed checks at a number of locations.

“The locations are regularly published so that people know we are out on the roads carrying out enforcement.

“Speed limits are set for a reason – to keep people safe – and it is every driver’s responsibility to observe them.”
