Police issue statement after reports pupils were chased by potentially armed man in Stroud

POLICE have issued a statement after a group of pupils were reportedly chased by a potentially armed man in Stroud.

The pupils had just got off a bus at Bowbridge on Tuesday afternoon when the incident happened.

A spokeswoman for Stroud Police said: “On Tuesday 3 November we responded to a report that a group of school children had been followed by a man in a van on Highfield Road, Stroud ‪between 3.30pm and 4pm.

“It was reported that a man had got out of the van and chased the children and may have been in possession of a knife.

“He then got into a different vehicle, a green saloon which was possibly an Audi, and made off at speed down Bowbridge Lane.

“Officers located a van nearby and spoke to the driver. It was established that he was not involved.

“Reassurance patrols have been taking place in the area and officers have conducted house to house inquiries.”
