Police have questioned a suspect after money from a charity collection box was stolen.
The theft, of money from a Marie Curie collection box, took place last week at The Swan, Tytherington.
Two people arrived at the pub saying they had walked from Dursley and wanted to catch a bus to Yate, but had no money to do so.
Staff at the pub gave them their bus fare but realised after they left that money had gone missing.
The crime was reported to the police on Sunday.
A spokeswoman for Avon and Somerset Police said: “Police have identified two suspects following the theft of cash from a charity box at a pub in Tytherington.
“Officers have spoken to one of the suspects voluntarily. Enquiries continue.”
