Police step up drug testing in Stroud pubs

POLICE have been stepping up their drug testing in pubs in the Stroud town centre. 

The Queen Vic, Gloucester Street, hosted police officers on Saturday night who did swab tests for controlled substances, including for date rape drugs. 

150 tests were conducted.

The Stroud Neighbourhood team were also out in town centre with the drug screening machine.

Officers were also at the entrances of various pubs and clubs on Saturday night, screening people for illegal drugs to prevent victims of spiking.

This was part of Operation Scorpion which sees regional law enforcement agencies set aside geographical boundaries to disrupt the South West drugs market.
