An posthumous exhibition was held over the weekend celebrating the life and work of Sheepscombe artist Rosemary Swinson.

Mrs Swinson, a former nurse, died last year but not before producing a stunning and extensive portfolio of artwork.

A talented multi-medium artist, Rosemary could seemingly turn her hand to all forms of creative expression.

After 20 years spent practising as a stoneware potter, she was also rehearsed in various forms of printing techniques.

But it was with textiles that Rosemary devoted her final few years to.

This, her last and final exhibition, organised by husband David, and which took place over two days, showed how Rosemary was both inspired by the landscape of her home of the past 15 years and ecclesiastical patterns found in the stonework of churches.

Her colourful designs combined painting, embroidery and hand-dyeing.

It was an inevitably a bitter sweet occasion for husband David and her family, including grandson Henry who proudly stood for a photo with the heartfelt tapestry that his late granny had made for him.

Rosemary leaves behind a rich and beautiful legacy of her handmade treasures.
