Rampaging vandals damage shops, cars and homes in Stroud

Vandals rampaged through Stroud last night, damaging cars, shops and houses.

Eleven incidents of anti-social behaviour involving smashing crockery and windows have been reported.

In the early hours of this morning a large amount of crockery, glass and windows have been smashed leaving broken debris in the street and damaging people’s properties and cars.

At 2.35am police received a report of people throwing glass and mugs in Clarendon Court.

At 3.30am bricks were thrown at a parked car in Mill Farm Drive smashing the windscreen.

At 4am police received a report that a brick had been thrown through someone’s living room window in Paganhill.

In Slad Road, a resident woke up to find their rear car window smashed.

In Gloucester Street other residents woke to find a shop window had been smashed and broken china along the road.

A driver reported to police that plates had been smashed against his car causing damage in London Road overnight.

Additionally, a business in London Road reported to police an amount of broken crockery all around their premises and other businesses reported finding a broken window this morning.

In Mathews Way offenders climbed on to a bench and smashed a living room window with a brick during the night.

Nobody was injured in these incidents.

Police will be increasing their patrols in the area as a result.

PSCO Jo Upton of the Stroud neighbourhood policing team said: “We are appealing for any information, witnesses, CCTV or electronic doorbell footage of any of these incidents.

“This destructive behaviour will impact businesses and residents.

“Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any information no matter how small.”
