THE closure of London Road on Saturdays for Stroud Farmers’ Market has now come to an end.
The temporary closure was introduced in response to the coronavirus pandemic to provide more space for social distancing.
London Road was originally closed all week but scaled back to just Saturdays last July. It was funded first from the government response to Covid-19 and more recently from the Welcome Back Fund.
“That funding has now come to an end which is why the closure will not be able to continue,” said town mayor Kevin Cranston.
“The closure enabled us to ensure the town centre was safe for everyone and to encourage people back into the centre and support our local traders.”
The closure ends on Thursday (March 31).
