Royal fan from Stroud pays tribute to the Queen

Anne Townsend – pictured in Green Park on the way to Trooping The Colour during the Jubilee celebrations – is operations manager at the Door, Stroud.

Here she pays tribute to what the Queen meant to her.

“It’s hard to put in to words how I am feeling, we all knew this day would come but we were never really prepared for the reality,” said Anne.

“The Queen brought such joy to our lives throughout her reign.

“That steadfast figure of quiet confidence, wisdom and grace.

“As a Christian her confidence in her faith inspired me.

“In June it was a privilege to attend what will now be her final Trooping The Colour as part of the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations.

“A day I will never forget, being part of the crowd on The Mall as we all shared in our gratitude for all she had done for our country.

“I will also remember fondly seeing her at the British Military Tournament at Earls Court in 2012, dressed entirely in silver, sparkling from head to toe and with such a friendly face and wonderful smile.

“We will all miss our Queen.

“In the days and months to come, I will be keeping the Royal family in my thoughts and prayers as we see a new era begin before us.”
