Stroud Auction Rooms is the leading the way in terms of online bids.
The auction house had the highest average number of online bidders in the country during the first quarter of 2019.
In January Stroud’s total of 2,400 internet bidders was also the highest.
April’s auction was busy with the highest selling lot, a classical sketch ‘Inferno’ attributed to G F Watts and dated July 1959, fetched £2,200.
The next auction at Stroud, on May 8 and 9, is already full and entries are now being declined.
Auctioneer Nick Bowkett points out that the May auction had filled up well before the April sale started.
“So many people are wanting to sell with Stroud Auctions that vendors wishing to consign items need to do so well in advance,” he said.
Items are still being accepted for June, but the specialists sections for silver, jewellery, coins and watches are filling up rapidly.
