Targeting our community services

These organisations were vital for many local people during the pandemic, for instance, as people found their income affected while their bills remained. More recently, they have helped so many as the cost of living crisis has caused financial stress to even more households.

In this year’s budget, we have committed an extra £500,000 to help support those organisations which help so many people, to they can continue to do so.

The funding, which will be shared with these groups over the coming year will be targeted towards community services, such as those helping children and families, and providing welfare, benefit and debt advice.

It will support VCSE organisations to help meet their own increased running costs, as well as developing their ability to apply for other grants and funding.

Grants will also be made available to help support the running costs of community buildings and Community Welcome Spaces in the area.

This council investment is in recognition that the local voluntary sector is facing its own pressures due to increased costs, organisationally and for their own staff, while demand from the public remains very high.
