On February 17 this year the 16-year-old took Budweiser to the value of £24 from the Chippenham store.
He pleaded guilty two days later and a youth rehabilitation order was made at South East Wiltshire Magistrates’ Court on March 22.
Under the order the defendant was put under curfew for 12 weeks with electronic monitoring. During this time he must remain indoors between 7pm and 7am.
The defendant must also live for 15 months in Wiltshire Children’s Services accommodation and participate in a tailored programme as directed by the Youth Offending Team for six days.
No compensation was ordered because the defendant is a youth with no income and no reasonable prospect of employment or therefore remuneration.
