Teenager from Stroud among ten arrested in suspected weapons incident

A TEENAGER from Stroud was among ten people arrested following a suspected weapons incident in Gloucester.

Six men and four teenage boys are currently in police custody in connection with the incident which took place in Tredworth last night, Sunday 24 May.

Police were called to the area shortly after 6.30pm when a member of the public reported seeing a group of men with weapons who were chasing other men along Moor Street.

Armed officers attended and with assistance from the National Police Air Service (NPAS) located four men in the area and a further six inside a property.

All have been arrested on suspicion of affray.

A vehicle and a number of weapons were seized, but no firearms were seen during the incident and no-one was injured.

Those arrested include a 17-year-old boy from Stroud, a 15-year-old boy from Gloucester, and two 17-year-old boys from Gloucester.

The six men are aged between 18 and 21 and all from Gloucester.

They will all be interviewed today as officers conduct house to house enquiries and reassurance patrols in the area.

Superintendent Paul Dutton said: “This appears to be an incident involving two specific groups of males and we do not believe that there is a risk to the wider community.

“We would like to thank members of the public for their co-operation whilst the incident was ongoing last night and reassure them that we are taking all possible action to keep them safe.”
