Teens killed in Dursley crash named as inquest opens

INQUESTS have been opened into the deaths of the two teenagers who died in last week’s fatal crash near Dursley.

They have been named in the Gloucester Coroners Court listings as Jake Rugman, 17, and Matthew Millard, 18.

Two separate inquests for both boys were opened yesterday, Tuesday, and adjourned.

Friends Matt and Jake, who were both from Charfield near Wotton, died in a single-vehicle collision on Tait’s Hill at Stinchcombe on Thursday last week.

Their red Volkswagen left the road shortly after 11pm.

Emergency services were called but the pair were pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman in her 20s, who was also in the car, suffered injuries in the collision.

A GoFundMe page has been launched by their friends to create a memorial for the boys which has raised over £5,000 in just one day.

In a warm tribute to the boys, a post read: “Matt and Jake were kind and loved by all who knew them, they were the life of the party and spread joy wherever they went.

“They always put other people before themselves.

“As you can probably imagine this is a really tough time for everyone.”
