Thankyou First Great Western for dealing with track death

Very sadly, on Monday evening April 4 a person committed suicide by throwing him or herself in front of a train somewhere near Maidenhead on the Paddington main line.

Of course this caused tremendous disruption to services.

My heart goes out to friends and relatives, the train driver and all others closely involved in dealing with the tragedy and its aftermath.

I would like to praise the train company.

Along with others, I was stuck at Oxford Station, waiting for the delayed 20.45 service from Oxford all the way to Hereford.

Maybe some had been waiting for longer.

Staff at the station were very good at keeping us informed.

Of course there were no trains leaving Paddington as a result of the incident.

However, a train was found, a driver and a train manager and we were all instructed to change platforms – and the replacement train got underway only 20 minutes late.

I would also like to thank the train manager, Peter, who was so helpful providing information to those of us on the replacement train.
