The Bathurst Arms offering pints of a different kind

A Cotswold pub is offering up pints of a different kind in the form of organic milk.

The Bathurst Arms in North Cerney has started the initiative in an effort to reduce plastic usage.

Milk is sourced from Berkeley Farm and the pub then supplies customers with a glass bottle for them to then take away and bring back for a refill.

“Swapping supermarket plastic bottles can save so much plastic and waste,” Bathurst Arms manager and landlord Jordan Pelly said.

Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard:

“We can do so much more and if we can get our village and a few from Cirencester doing it then we are doing our bit for the environment.”

In 2020, the year that Jordan took over The Bathurst Arms, the pub became the first to be given a five star rating in the Soil Association’s Organic Served Here award. This means more than 95 per cent of food expenditure is on organic produce.

“Organic ingredients and suppliers are important to me,” added Jordan.

“Sustainability and the environment is something that any modern business should think about.”
