The dramatic moment a car was completely destroyed by fire outside at Sainsubury’s car park in Cheltenham

One car owner will be returning to this Sainsbury’s supermarlet isn’t in the state they left it in.

Firefighters from Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the Sainsbury’s car park in Gallagher Retail Park after the car burst into flames.

A crew from Cheltenham West were sent to the scene in Cheltenham at about 8.45pm and used hose reels and breathing apparatus to put out the fire.


The dramatic scenes were caught on camera by a neighbour who lives close to the supermarket.

No one was injured in the incident and no one was in the car at the time.

A spokesman for Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service said they did not know how the fire started nor did they know who the owner was.


A spokesman from Gloucestershire Constabulary said an investigation has begun to determine the cause of the fire.
