The Swan Inn, Swinbrook owners to take over The Golden Cross Inn

The team behind The Swan Inn, Swinbrook, are to take over The Golden Cross Inn in Cirencester.

The group currently run The Swan Inn in Swinbrook, West Oxfordshire and had previously been tied in with another award-winning venue – The Kings Head Inn, Bledington, also in Oxfordshire.

The Swan – pictured below – was awarded Dining Pub of the Year by The Good Pub Guide, the famous pub with rooms has also won the Oxfordshire County title two years in a row and currently holds two AA Rosettes.

Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard:

Arkell’s Brewery own The Golden Cross Inn and will work with the Swan’s Stephen Cook and his Operations Manager Stephen Pitt to oversee the refurb.

For Stephen Pitt, 34 it is somewhat a homecoming as he worked under previous Golden Cross landlord Mark Lindesay as a bar manager between the years 2012 and 2015, with a break in the middle to go to university.

“It was incredibly sad to hear of Mark’s (Lindesay) passing,“Stephen Pitt said.

“I know, having worked under him, how much he meant to the community and his regulars.

“He was no stranger to awards and picked up a few dining titles so we look forward to continuing his good work at The Golden Cross Inn.”

The company will have a soft opening on December 7 and will be looking to showcase the finished project in March.

Stephen Cook said: “We are going to do relaunch and refurb in stages due to the time of year and look to have it the way we want it for the Cheltenham Festival in March.

“I would like to thank Arkell’s Brewery for their support

“The residents of Black Jack Street have also been exceptional for the welcome.”

The Black Jack Street pub will officially open its doors on Thursday 8 December.
