THE top 100 UK restaurants for 2022 have been named by SquareMeal, and three are in the Cotswolds.
SquareMeal is an independent restaurant guide, and its UK Top 100 is the only list of its kind to exclude London’s eateries – allowing the dining scene outside the capital to shine.
Featuring everything from fine dining experiences through to farm-to-table restaurants and gastropubs, the UK Top 100 Restaurants list is compiled on based on user reviews and the opinions of expert critics.
As part of this year’s top 100, three Cotswold restaurants were named.
Lumiere in Cheltenham came in at 29th position on the list.
A fine dining restaurant in Cheltenham which has a Michelin green star, it is located in Clarence Parade in Cheltenham.
The restaurant is run by husband and wife team Jon and Helen, with all of the produce they serve coming from their farm.
And coming in 58th is the Old Butchers on Stow-on-the-Wold.
The family-run restaurant is located in an old butcher’s house, at 7 Park Street, Stow-on-the-Wold.
It uses a ‘nose-to-tail’ ethos to ensure minimal waste, and changes its menu regularly in line with the seasons.
The Double Red Duke in Bampton was placed 91st on the list.
SquareMeal noted its “classic and comforting” pub menu and its picturesque Cotswolds location on the doorstep of many stunning local walks.
