Burglars stole £5,000 worth of tools from a hotel undergoing extensive renovation work.

The Pear Tree Hotel in Purton, is undergoing extensive renovation work and is currently a building site.

Between 5pm on June 25 and 7am on June 26, offenders gained access to the site by removing metal fencing and broke into a container on site before making off with approximately £5,000 worth of tools and equipment from inside as well as two portable toilets.

They then gained access to the building itself and stole approximately 10 televisions.

Police believe it is likely that they travelled in a large vehicle – possibly a van or flatbed truck which would have not looked out of place on a building site.

Police are investigating the burglary and are appealing for information.

PC Nathan Martin said: “The hotel is located on what can be a busy road at times, so we would like to try and identify any witnesses who may have been driving past the location between these times and saw anything suspicious, in particular, a vehicle which may have had two blue portable toilets on the rear.

“We believe the vehicle left the site and travelled towards Lydiard Millicent following the burglary.”

If you have any information, call police on 101 and quote crime reference number 54190061703. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
