THERE were smiles all round as South Cerney residents lined up to take part in the annual pancake races on Shrove Tuesday in the village.
A mixture of pre-school, primary school children and mums and dads enjoyed the races, which took part as usual down Church Lane.
Organiser Joan Townsend said: “It was a great event. There were lots of spectators there cheering on and children enjoyed themselves.
“Everyone had a wonderful time.”
She added: “The rain held off for us until after the event.”
There were refreshments afterwards at All Hallows Church in the village and race winners picked up their prizes.
“It was another successful South Cerney village event,” Joan said.
