A YOUNG environmentalist from Fairford has shunned video games in favour of a different pastime this half term
Heather Kent, aged 11, spent three afternoons during the holiday break clearing a local stream of litter with her dad.
The stream, in Hatherop Lane in Fairford, was found to make rich pickings for the keen eco warrior.
Amongst the litter she collected 45 glass bottles, 33 plastic bottles and 56 cans which now will be recycled.
Other items found were crockery, glasses, mobile phone, remote control, a window blind as well as the usual crisp packets cigarette tins and gas canisters.
Heather is hoping to raise awareness of the litter problem in the Cotswolds and encourage people to take part in the Great British Spring Clean.
Last year Fairford Town Council awarded Heather the Albert Alder Award for her environmental pursuits around Fairford and the Ernest Cook Trust made her a Young Ambassador for Fairford at Fairford Festival.
The Fairford Spring Clean is on April 6 from 10am-2pm.
